[With Rocket Training done and over with, it's time for Rude to start his own journey. He's a bit tired of the Goldenrod BGM and admittedly slightly curious about what else is in store for him out there in the Pokemon world. But most importantly, he's looking for adventure and action, and hanging around in one town isn't going to cut it.

Picking a destination wasn't hard; just start where everyone else was starting. Easier prey and he doesn't have to fudge any more details about the place to everyone who's been asking about his journey.]

I'm going to New Bark Town. Anyone interested?

Violet would be the best place to start regardless, especially if you are considering challenging the gyms. I take it you are?

Maybe.

[Honestly? It hadn't really been on his mind. It's just a tiny piece of plastic, that badge. But it did allow the use of certain HMs and TMs and if Rude was planning on making his Pokemon stronger then sooner or later, he'd have to get down to it.]

If you plan to do a large amount of traveling, it would be useful to do so. You will be granted the ability to use Fly if you defeat Falkner, for instance.

[He's not sure why he's even giving advice here, but hey, if it helps the grunts be less bumbling and more useful, why not?]

Yes, that's the one. I've been meaning to travel to Violet to defeat him myself, but I would rather not detour to New Bark Town first. As I said, there is nothing there. For me, at least.

Yes. I work in the labs, you see. It has been especially busy as of late since all of my fellow non-native colleagues have disappeared.

That said, I suppose I should introduce myself. I am Dist the Rose, researcher in the science department. I must stress that it is appreciated to have new recruits. I trust you will not become dead weight and actually assist us.

[This guy's a scientist? Rude doesn't have the best opinion of scientists, but then again all of Shinra's top lab coats were a bit off their rocker. Still, Hojo always made him a bit uneasy, and that's a Turk saying it.]

[Rude would be right to suspect scientists, especially ones working for Team Rocket. Evil organization scientists are bound to be their own brand of crazy, man.]

Well then Rude, do enjoy yourself in New Bark Town if you are so intent on traveling there. Be sure to keep an eye out for important information on our frequency, though I'm sure that was drilled into your head during training. Still, it's worth repeating, what with all the bumbling grunts forgetting to pay the slightest bit of attention when their help is needed.

[If you add a truckload of crazy, Dist might even sound like Hojo. Rude doesn't know the guy well but from what he's reading in the text, Dist sounds arrogant and demanding, and passionate in his pursuit of science. All characteristics the good doctor back home had.]
